The Shack – A Redding Tradition Since 1954
The Shack in Redding, CA, has been a cherished local landmark for generations. First opened in 1954 by Bill and Reva Lakmann, this family-owned eatery quickly became known for its mouthwatering burgers, broasted chicken, creamy shakes, and welcoming atmosphere. For decades, it served as a true community hub, drawing everyone from loggers and mechanics to families and friends looking for a hearty meal. In 2022, the legacy came full circle when Danny Lakmann, grandson of the original founders, purchased the restaurant from James Sparman. With a passion for preserving The Shack’s classic charm while introducing a fresh menu, Danny reopened the doors in September 2023 at its historic Eureka Way and Market Street location—formerly Clearie’s Restaurant—bringing the beloved spot back to its roots.
Classic Comfort Meets Fresh Flavor
Today, The Shack continues to serve up American comfort food with a pub-style twist. Guests can relax in the bar and lounge area, enjoy live music on Saturdays, or sing their hearts out during Wednesday karaoke nights. The dog-friendly patio offers complimentary treats for furry friends, making it a welcoming spot for the whole family. Whether you’re craving a taste of Redding’s history, looking for a lively night out, or just want a delicious, home-cooked meal, The Shack blends nostalgia with modern flavor to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
